至 於 對 張 國 榮 他 形 容 哥 哥 是 「 上 天 賜 給 我 們 的 禮 物 ， 為 何 又 要 他 在 最 燦 爛 的 時 候 把 他 帶 走 ﹖ 雖 然 上 天 要 我 們 知 道 世 事 沒 有 完 美 ， 當 擁 有 時 就 要 珍 惜 ， 因 為 上 天 賜 給 我 們 的 隨 時 都 會 收 番 。 」 真 的 ， 因 為 今 天 上 天 又 把 霑 叔 收 回 了 ﹗
梅 艷 芳 就 更 是 他 欣 賞 的 女 歌 手 ， 所 以 霑 叔 一 直 都 稱 阿 梅 為 樂 壇 奇 女 子 ， 就 因 為 他 愛 才 。
如 今 他 們 四 人 在 天 國 重 聚 ， 他 們 大 可 以 把 人 間 已 曲 終 人 散 的 曲 譜 ， 再 在 天 上 延 續 金 曲 《 當 年 情 》 了 ﹗

Re: James Wong passed awayThanks Woodstock. James Wong is indeed a GREAT man! Everyone mentioned abt his two most popular songs, 'below the lion rock'/'beach of shanghai'. Anita did get to sing that song, 'beach of shanghai' too n I enjoyed it tremendously. Hope I could get to hear the other one someday.

ana: besides the 2 songs you mentioned, actually Uncle James wrote many
many great songs including about 12 songs for Mui such as :"Heart Debt 心債", "Ask you to stay for tonight 留住你今晚", "Man in the Wind 人在風里", " Ask you 問一問你", "Oath by the pearl ring 珍珠指環的約誓", "Don't have to think of yesterday 不必想昨天" (he composed the music for the above 2 songs too) "Hand out my heart 交出我的心", "Melt you and me by heat 熱溶你與我" (Movie "City War" theme song 電影"城市戰爭"主題曲), "Rose, Rose I love you 玫瑰, 玫瑰, 我愛你" (Movie "Mr Canton and Lady Rose" theme song, 電影"奇蹟" 主題曲"), "Don't believe to love is a crime 不信愛有罪", "Which day 何日" ( Movie "Au Revoir Mon Amour電影 "何日君再來" 主題曲), & "Today I feel very lonely 今天我非常寂莫" (composed the music too.)
I believe you are familiar with most of them. Actually some of them are my most favourite songs.

I like Mui's "Oath by the pearl ring 珍珠指環的約誓" very much, but this is a side-track song, too bad that it's never on the chart.

Last night TVB had a program in Memory of James Wong , we were able to hear lots of his master pieces performed by the original singers of those songs, most of them were the TV drama theme songs. All those singers are good and experienced singers from 70s or even 60s.
The song "Handed out your heart" sung by Mui was played. Though only half of the song because it was cut off by the TV ad, Mui's voice was just so powerful, striking and different. Then a so called "pop queen" of today sang "Glowing Star", that made me miss Mui more, because under such comparison it just made me see more clearly how Mui could deliver the same song beautifully, smoothly and naturally with ease, but full of right feeling, while it might be a very difficult task for others.
It's sad that when you realize that all really talented people left one by one.

Actually these messages are full of compliments of Uncle James's songs too, but just delivered in a light, and less serious manner, because I just don't like everybody to be overcast with grief again at the demise of Uncle James, who is undeniably a talent we all respect very much without doubts. Mui fans already feel too miserable since Oct, and the coming Dec. will be a sad month for all of us.

Re: James Wong passed awayI like James Wong. Been to his show once in Singapore. Very talented, gift of the gab. I feel he treat and take care of Mui well. When she departed he wrote an article about her. I read and felt he wrote it from his heart.

Sometimes, though it is not our intention to hurt/ offend / annoy anybody, a slipup may result the otherwise. I agree that we should be more thoughtful and sensitive to certain issues especially those related to lamentation and emotions. Learning is a life long process and not always pleasant. A bitter lesson makes us wiser and wisdom makes life profitable.
It is no doubt that Uncle James and his work will be remembered always.

Re: James Wong passed awayNow that I know that he wrote the Wong Fei Hong theme and music for "Once Upon a Time in China" I have to tell a story: All through the 1990's we had a theater that every Thursday night, for years, would show two Hong Kong films, so over the years we got to see on the big screen, and with a crowd of hard core fans, most all of the major films several times over. All the Jet Li and Jackie Chan films, and most of Anita's films. I can say without a doubt that the fans knew, if they knew nothing else, the Wong Fei Hong theme; after the first couple of notes they would recognize and start applauding and cheering the music, because it meant that Jet Lee was coming, to do something heroic. And when Drunken Master II came out, the theme played for Jackie Chan, and so we knew that it was about Wong Fei Hong, even though it was Jackie Chan and not Jet Li we were watching.
After reading about "Uncle Jim" I realize he's comparable to our Henry Mancini, who won several Oscars, wrote "Moon River", "Pink Panther" and music for TV for as long as I can remember.

With the great talent & hard work he put to to entertain us will always be enjoyed & appreciated & remembered by us, our older generation & the newer generation to come.

陳 淑 芬 表 示 ， 他 們 以 一 般 租 客 身 分 向 香 港 政 府 大 球 場 租 借 場 地 ， 但 亦 有 向 他 們 說 明 是 為 霑 叔 舉 行 追 思 會 ， 有 關 方 面 已 安 排 開 放 第 一 層 共 1 萬 個 座 位 給 市 民 ， 故 他 們 亦 準 備 1 萬 支 白 玫 瑰 給 出 席 的 市 民 。 若 屆 時 人 數 超 過 1 萬 ， 他 們 亦 會 開 放 樓 上 的 座 位 ， 希 望 能 按 照 霑 叔 遺 願 ， 不 想 讓 公 眾 為 他 太 辛 勞 。
至 於 追 思 會 的 程 序 安 排 ， 陳 表 示 已 按 照 黃 霑 家 人 安 排 的 10 名 黃 霑 生 前 好 友 （ 見 右 圖 ） ， 在 會 上 致 辭 ， 他 們 會 分 享 黃 霑 昔 日 的 事 情 片 段 ， 以 表 達 對 黃 霑 的 思 念 ， 然 後 大 會 將 播 放 黃 霑 生 前 的 名 作 供 市 民 重 溫 。 陳 強 調 ， 重 溫 名 作 的 片 段 絕 不 會 像 演 唱 會 ， 現 正 討 論 播 放 細 節 安 排 。
追 思 會 非 黃 霑 遺 願
陳 淑 芬 解 釋 ， 追 思 會 不 是 黃 霑 的 遺 願 ， 是 其 家 人 經 商 討 後 的 決 定 ， 希 望 可 以 360 度 把 霑 叔 各 方 面 的 才 華 及 性 格 ， 透 過 其 生 前 好 友 表 達 出 來 。
對 於 選 擇 在 政 府 大 球 場 的 原 因 ， 蕭 潮 順 解 釋 是 因 為 考 慮 到 霑 叔 生 前 接 觸 的 層 面 多 及 感 染 力 強 ， 故 希 望 能 讓 全 港 市 民 都 有 機 會 參 與 追 思 。
陳 淑 芬 透 露 ， 會 把 會 場 佈 置 得 簡 單 及 高 雅 ， 已 從 荷 蘭 訂 購 大 批 鮮 花 ， 至 於 整 個 追 思 會 的 費 用 ， 則 暫 仍 未 計 算 。 有 關 租 用 大 球 場 的 費 用 ， 她 已 與 有 關 方 面 在 合 約 中 以 保 密 條 款 為 由 拒 絕 透 露 ， 只 表 示 是 按 一 般 租 客 租 用 場 地 程 序 處 理 。 但 他 們 已 昨 日 已 跟 大 球 場 及 警 方 開 會 ， 安 排 追 思 會 的 保 安 事 宜 。
另 外 ， 他 們 亦 印 製 1 萬 本 特 刊 ， 載 有 黃 霑 生 前 的 珍 藏 照 片 、 墨 寶 及 其 生 平 年 表 ， 將 在 追 思 會 上 派 發 。
在 發 布 會 上 ， 與 會 者 都 神 情 肅 穆 ， 其 間 ， 倪 震 說 到 「 為 香 港 的 榮 耀 及 傳 奇 ， 獻 上 一 支 鮮 花 … … 以 表 示 對 他 （ 黃 霑 ） 的 思 念 」 時 ， 泣 不 成 聲 。
James Wong's family had a private funeral yesterday, only attended by close family members and relatives. And Cremation followed right away at Cape Collinson Crematorium.
However, a memorial services will be held on the coming Sunday (Dec 5), 3:00p.m. to 4:30p.m. at Hong Kong Stadium for all the people who want to show respect to him. No ticket is required, all people can go and flowers will be provided for people to present to Uncle James by the organizer.
