Outraged at the latest new on the placement of her ashes

Is this some kind of joke? I agree with you Woodstock and feel outraged and annoyed at the change of her name and the indication to place her ashes oversea if it is true. If Anita knows about it, she will return and find those who dare to decide on her behalf. Please keep us posted for the latest update as this seems to be too ridiculous.

Re: Outraged at the latest new on the placement of her ashes

This time, I'm fully in support for Mui Ma to fight for the rights of Anita. How can someone change her name deprived of her real identity and family background? The surname "MUI" is inherited from her biological father and how can someone so heartless to do this? Furthermore, no matter how bad Mui Ma is, she is still her biological mother and she should be granted monthly allowance as insisted by Anita. Her ashes, the most precious treasure, should be kept by her mother and be placed in a temple for public prayers and visits. We do not wish Anita to be mistaken as "unfilial daughter" just because of such irresponsible act taken by third-party.

Of all the bad news, this is the most outrageous and the most disturbing that I cannot tolerate neither withstand the blow.

I am also very sad to heard about these news. Even her personal belonging like her passport, birth cert. and death cert. is not with Mui Ma. I hope the person involved should respect Mui Ma and let her keep her daughter belonging. I really hope all this news is not true.

Re: Outraged at the latest new on the placement of her ashes

I loathe Anita's elder brother, Mui Kei Meng million times. He is every inches a mean person, who is interested only in Anita's wealth and nothing else.

He has been eyeing for Anita's hard-earned money for so long and it is the right time now for him to act for his own benefits.

He cares NONE for his siblings and Mui Ma. I can see he is exploiting Mui Ma to gain what he has been planning for what does not belong to him in the first place. It is as good as robbering.

If I want to suspect anybody, he is the first suspect to may have hooked up the whole story just to gain sympathy from public, to rally behind him. He is definitely the culprit behind Mui Ma's frustrations and angers since Anita's demise. And to think Mui Ma's frustrations began on the 5th day after Anita's passing and it was after her brother's return from USA, I believe so.

When Anita was in this world, her ties with her brother already severed to a stage she didn't wish to see him even at her last breath. She could have denounce him publicly to de-link him as no more her brother but she didn't do so (how I wished she could do that so that he has no rights to speak). This could also prove that Anita does not want her surname cange as she still remember her root.

I dare to challenge this downright despicable so-called biological brother of Anita. He will never get what he has been dreaming for. If I want to criticize, I would not hesitate to criticize Anita's brother as heartless and as tough as I can. He is an eyesore and how I wished he could disappear from public eyes. Just want to give him a big slap of my hands but I won't dirty my hands and land in jail as it is not worth a sacrifice to teach him a hard lesson in today's democratic and humane society. I think the world would be in peace without him appearing in public, freely speaking for the own benefits of him.

(This is purely my own observation and posting and nothing to do with any other readers nor the webmasters of this forum).

Re: Outraged at the latest new on the placement of her ashes

Hi PL, the trustee Anita engaged to manage her will is a BANK. You must have a trust in Anita's decision that a BANK is the best party to ensure her properties and assets (hard or soft cash)are managed wisely and do not fall into bad hands especialy her brother. As for Mui Ma, I believe she would receive sooner. Anyway, she already received insurance sum assured of quite a very huge amount, so we should not worry about that.

Anita's own family likes to exaggerate how poor they are being treated and always the only party who complains a lot publicly since her demise and what I could blame for is Anita's brother.

I would like to remain neutral but would not hesitate to speak for Anita's right when something that sounds unfair or may affect her image for what she had never claimed or confirmed.

So, just don't worry. We shall see, listen, observe, and judge for the coming days, weeks and months.

TAKE HOME MESSAGES from ANITA's LIFE AND DEATH

Ever since the death of Anita, I have been feeling this sadness deep inside. However, I have slowly come to the conlusion that may be this is all destiny. Everyone has a mission in life. She was destined to have the mission of being a superstar, then dropped off the sky from a tragic illness - almost like dropping a bomb on us as a wake-up call. To make people think twice about life, and about death.

Her success in life has inspired us in many ways:

1) Be thankful and treasure what we have... rather than emphasizing what we don't have.
MOst of us have more family support and better chance for education than Anita ever had. She had to work extra hard as a result. We should appreciate how much luckier we are in those respects.

2) Put thoughts/words into action.

If you think it would be good to be an organ donor, then act by registering as one.
If you have thought about donating to a favorite charity, then try to do this once a year.

I admire Anita for really acting on things. She personally handed out blankets to street people, visited children in poverty in remote villages, donated millions to charities, organized the famous 1:99 concert... etc.
She has accomplished so much more than most of us have because she put thoughts INTO ACTIONS.

Her tragic death reminded us that:

1) Anything can happen in life. (Princess Dianna's death also proved it.)

"Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is a mystery, Today is a gift." Eleanor Roosevelt.

Try to make sure that you will have no regrets if you were to die tomorrow. I think Anita can proudly say that she has no regrets in her life.

2) Value/maintain your health.

Thanks to Anita, many women have just become aware of the importance of annual physical check-ups for early diagnosis of cervical cancer.

Anita has completed her mission in life by sending out the above messages loud and clear as a wake-up call for us. The least we could do is take in these messages and ACT UPON THEM.

Really, really miss her.

Re: TAKE HOME MESSAGES from ANITA's LIFE AND DEATH

In addition to your list:

=> Anita had never fired any of her employees (staffs). This was highlighted by Phoenix TV presenter who appeared to be her friend.
=> Anita had never sued any party, any individual, any media. Vice-versa, she had never been sued. So far, I have never read or heard any lawsuits involving her (except for the dispute between Modrn Beauty and Marianne).

=> Most of Anita's concerts were partly meant to raise funds for charities. Where else can we find such a caring and generous artiste who is willing to contribute portion of her profits to charity organizations?

=> Anita always there to give full supports and helps to her friends anytime, anywhere. She had never failed to attend Kim Robinson's salon openings despite her busy schedules. She had also never failed to provide financial assistance to her friends when they were in trouble. One of the good example was case of Loh Kwan Cho.

=> Anita had never failed to give supports and encouragements to junior artistes (who were not her students) by appearing as guest in their mini or major concerts. Among the junior artistes she had appeared as guest were Edmond Leong, Kelly Chen and many more.

=> Same to go when Anita appeared as audience and was so engrossed with their performances, she danced through their musics and entirely forgotten she was a superstar herself. Among artistes she had been just an audience were David Tao, Karen Mok, Ah Mei and many more.

=> Anita is not the type of person who would easily end her friendships with any female artiste whenever there was a conflict of interest between them. Look at how her friendships with Michelle Yeoh, Maggie Cheung, Sammi Cheng, and othres still remain longlasting good friends despite stiff competitions between/among them in fighting for the "Best Actress Award". Her friendships with them were earned through hardships, sacrifices, sincerity, compromises, carings, and willingness to understand better each others. The new generation of artistes still have long way to go to achieve such a maturity level in which, Anita had succeeded in proving her smartness in dealing with such conflicts. They need to learn from her.

=> Guess who was the most happiest person in the world when Andy *** was personally announced by Anita as the "Most Popular Male Singer" for 2001 Jade Solid Gold Awards? Andy *** kept watching the recorded show again and again and what he discovered it was Anita, his beloved and respected teacher.

=> Anita had never failed to entertain or please her friends and fans despite her life-threatening illness. She had never shown discomfort nor pain nor bad temper to them and us all. She kept all these sufferings to herself, in a toilet, in a secluded place where only herself alone, to vent her frustrations, angers and to relieve her pains. Anita had never wanted anyone of us (relatives, friends, fans, and her staffs) to share her sufferings. She just want us to share her happiness. Phoenix TV presenter remembered she and a group had last dinner with her in 2003 and after two glasses of beer, Anita went to ladies and kept herself inside and she was really in a very bad mood. She was throwing tantrums at nobody but to the wall of the toilet cube. She had never told anyone of them she had cancer and nobody understands why she was so frustrated and was in bad temper. The presenter was seen crying as she told this incident.... (Sigh, if only her friends knew earlier....)

=> Anita is a righteous person who fights for the rights of her friends, students and staffs as well as to protect them. Among those she had fought for their rights; Danny Chan, Carina Lau, her students etc. Among those she had protected were Leslie Cheung (appealed to media to cease speculating on his death) , Andy Lau+Leon Lai+Aaron Kwok (for media critics on their singing skills), Siew Mei (for drinking beer on her behalf several times)

=> Anita had never failed to love her beau wholeheartedly, with one loyal heart at one time. She had never been a two-timer. Only her ex-boyfriends never appreciated and treasured her till when she had gone, did they realize how important Anita to them (some of them).

I envy those showbusiness artistes (active or retired) who should have many chances to meet and know her well but most of them never appreciated her until her last breath, then it was too late already.........

(Love Anita forever)

I don't understand why the surname "HUI" for Andy was being replaced with "XXX" but I hope it is the computer software filtering out the word "HUI" and alternating with "XXX". My postings in this forum do not expect any agreements from readers. These postings are meant to express my feelings for Anita. Thanks.

Re: TAKE HOME MESSAGES from ANITA's LIFE AND DEATH

I agree to all the things said by both of you. Mui made contribution to the society for her whole life generously(from 4 till 40). Ironically, even her demise or the cause of her death served as an alert to all women. Even she has already left this world, she is still influencing the thinking and life of many of us, and that will continue forever. She is a great woman!

Marx: Neither I or the webmaster has changed anything you posted. But our forum has "Profanity Filter", so I bet the software doesn't like the word "HUI". I remember it happensed in the previous posting by another fan.

ROUGE---Alternative (and much, much better) English subtitles available now

I have just finished a rather interesting project and I would like to share: I found buried in my stuff an old VHS tape of 'Rouge' which is barely watchable, having been already copied several times, BUT it has very good English subtitles. I was told it came from Australian BBC TV, and in fact there are blank pauses where commercials were edited out. Subtitles virtually identical to these appeared on the first theatrical print which showed on the west coast of the US in I think 1989. In this print, the subtitles were applied to the film with a crude burning-in process instead of the usual photographic method. Sadly, I never saw this print or this translation again. Subsequent viewings were of theater prints, laser and DVD's with the inferior translation that is on the current Media Asia DVD.

So, I transcribed the subtitles off the tape and onto the computer in the form of a "Subrip" file.

Did you know that it is possible to play a DVD on your computer and extract the video and subtitle files, then edit the subtitles and watch the movie from your hard drive using the new edited subtitles? This apparently is more popular in Europe where there are so many languages that aren't available commercially on movies people want to watch.

A "Subrip" or ".srt" file is small; all of 'Rouge' takes up 2 files of about 40kb each. But best of all, you can open a Subrip file in Notepad or WordPad and just read it like a script, or text-edit it.

Here's a small sample:

*************************************************************

120
00:12:21,314 --> 00:12:22,906
Look up there

121
00:12:52,879 --> 00:12:55,074
Fleur, look

122
00:12:55,181 --> 00:12:57,376
Twelfth Master is giving you
a Duilian couplet

123
00:12:57,951 --> 00:12:58,849
It's beautiful!

124
00:12:58,952 --> 00:13:00,249
Look what he's written

125
00:13:02,956 --> 00:13:07,256
"Like a dream, like an illusion,
the moon"

***************************************************************

This is what I did: I downloaded from http://subs.2ya.com/ the existing subtitle files for 'Rouge' (the Media Asia/Fortune Star DVD translation) and replaced the third (text) line with the better translation from the BBC tape where appropriate. The new files are NOT tested or debugged yet in the software media player, as I don't have any of this software set up yet, but the hardest part of the work has been done.

I want to get this better translation into as many hands as possible, just so that English-speaking fans can enjoy the film as I did when I first saw it, and to make sure that any future DVD or film prints have a better translation than what's out there now. You don't really have to play the files in the player to appreciate the changes, just print out the files, or read it from your computer if you're already familiar with the film.

I have uploaded the files to the discussion board here, in the 'Files' section
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/Anita-Mui-Yim-Fong/
but you have to be a member to access the files (but it's free), this board gets almost no traffic now, so I want to put them up somewhere else, or I can email the files as two 40kb attachments to whoever wants. I recommend getting the original Media Asia translation files as well, as these ARE known to work in the software player, and also so we can study and discuss the changes. Let me know what you prefer.

Re: ROUGE---why this is really important!

'Rouge' does not yet have a DVD issue in the 16x9 "enhanced widescreen" format which is the current high-quality standard, this means it is overdue for a re-issue. So the time to press the company to use the best possible subtitle translations is now, before it is too late, and now, when the film will be shown April 7 at the HK film festival and will be talked about and appreciated extensively.

Just to show you what can happen, today I read the review http://www.dighkmovies.com/v4/202/202a.html of the new release of 'God of Gamblers' by Wong Jing's company. This film which is extremely popular has never had an acceptable release on video,"....this new 16:9 presentation finally gives the movie the showcase collectors have longed for. The image looks remarkably sharp...." but then..."Alas, the English subtitle translation has not been noticeably improved, with numerous errors and much needless paraphrasing." If this happens to 'Rouge' what a waste this will be!

Can you imagine a super high-quality "special edition" of 'Rouge' like Criterion did with 'In the Mood for Love' with a second disc with all the extra material about Leslie and Anita, and including the duet performance from Fantasy Gig?

Please, if anyone knows people in the industry who could make this happen, or people to contact about the English subtitles, let me know.

Hi FB,

Thank you for your effort and transcript. That is certainly better although I cannot put in the movie. The more I saw ROUGE, the more I like it.

To Woodstock:
If you know these, please tell me what you know.
What do you call the song Fleur sang in the movie? I donft think that was a song from Cantonese opera. Then what was it?
Also, did Anita learn Cantonese opera from legendary Yam Kim-Fai? I read somewhere that she appeared in the special TV program for 10th death anniversary of Yam Kim-Fai. What was Anita performed in the program? Did she sing gYuet Kukh at that time?

AK, can you find a copy of 'Song of the Exile' (Ann *** film starring Maggie Cheung and Sylvia Chang, 1990)? From 16 to 18 minutes into the film, listen, isn't that the exact same song playing on the radio while Maggie (as a young child, flashback) is talking to her grandfather? The date of that scene should be in the middle 1950's.

Everybody, to get the Rouge English script material, click on the mailbox icon on the left to send me an e-mail, put "Rouge" in the subject line.

Re: ROUGE---Alternative (and much, much better) English subtitles available now

FB: Good work! though I don't need English subtitles.

AT:

It is Cantonese opera sung by Fleur (Mui herself) at the beginning of the movie. It might be called [Har Tou Chau Hum]

Mui liked Yam Kim Fai very much since she was a very young girl, but she never learnt Cantonese opera from Yam. She knew how to sing by herself. At the 10th death anniversary of Yam, Mui did sing [Yuet Kuk] (Cantonese opera) by herself, [Far Yeun Mun Sheung ].

Mui actually was very good in singing Cantonese Opera, due to her low pitch, she always sang the male part.......have you heard her singing the famous opera song of "Sum Ma C Tsang" at a charity show long time ago? Really very good!

FB

I will looking for the movie. I know I have it in a box.

Woodstock
Thank you very much for the information. I know Anita could sing anything which had melodies. Old songs, Jazz, Rock, Hip Hop, anything!
She must have sung [Yellow-Plum songs] somewhere. The charity concert for Flood In China, I saw a few soconds footage when she sang [Yuet Kut]. Are you talking about this?

Could you please write [Har Tou Chau Hum], [Far Yeun Mum Sheung] and [Sum Ma C Tsang] in Chinese? I maybe look for the songs.

Also, I want to know that her version of [Moon Represents My Heart](sorry I don't know correct English title} is available? Not live one from [1997 Live in Taipei]. The reason I ask to you is that in the movie WILD SEARCH (Chow Yun Fat and Cherrie Chung Chor Hung)there was a scene Cherrie was listening to a record. Then we could hear Anita's [Moon Represents My Heart].

Re: ROUGE---Alternative (and much, much better) English subtitles available now

AT:

The particular [Yuet Kut] I was talking about is [萬惡淫為首], She sang this one on several occasions, once in [博愛燈火傳萬家]. Alan Tam went to the audience for donation, when Mui was singing. This [萬惡淫為首] is the famous Cantonese opera song of [Sum Ma C Tsang] or 新馬仔, he is very famous Cantonese opera singer, who died years ago. Do you know who he is? James Wong always comments that Anita Mui resembles to 新馬仔 very much. Anyway, Mui sang that [萬惡淫為首] really good.

If you are interested in Mui's [Yuet Yut], you should also try to find the one she sang with the wife of Ah Nat, [劍合釵圓]. Also [鳳閣恩仇未了情] that she sang with Jacky Chan. As Mui always sang the male part, so Jacky had to sing the female part, it was really funny.

About that [Yellow-plum songs], she usually sang with her sister in early days, and once with Sally Yip, that was for chairty show.

Chinese for [Har Tou Chau Hum] is 客途秋恨 (but as mentioned not too sure if this is the song she sang in Rouge), [Far Yeun Mum Sheung] is 花院盟香. and [Sum Ma C Tsang] is just name of the Cantonese opera singer, well known as 新馬仔. You can't find any of these songs sung by Mui in her albums, as she sang all these during the TV programs, mostly charity. So if you can get the recording of tapes of these programs, you will get those songs.

As far as I know [Moon Represents My Heart] only recorded in [1997 Live in Taipei] Can't be found in her other albums.

Thank you, Woodstock.

Yes, I heard [鬾鎞 and wondering what kind of occasion she sang it. Your answer explained it.
I know who Vne was. I heard that he was allowed to use opiume legally.
But I did not know that James Wong made such comments. That is very interesting. Certainly Anita could sing a variety range of songs.
What a talented singer she was... what a loss. Sigh.

Regarding Anita's [Yeut Kuk], it is very difficult for me to look for, but I won't give up now.

Thank you for useful information as always.

Cute side of Anita Mui

I like to hear the cute side of Anita Mui from Anita's friends, disciples and fans. Those memories are sweet and my heart melt and never before it is so peaceful that I smile and happy, pondering her cuteness.

The recent MingPao's article, one of her friend revealed that there was once, long before she had cancer, Anita was sick and need to go to clinic. She prepared herself two spectacles. One with dark lenses to shelter her eyes from the public and the other with clear lenses when face-to-face with doctor. She wasn't wearing make-up at that time. She is really cute....

Re: Cute side of Anita Mui

Anita mui is really cute

i read mingpao..the one with Eddie Lau...the 1834 one i think.

Well anyway, it was the time when they were shopping at a toy store in London or paris. And Anita picked up a toy dog and put it on the counter to buy later. Eddie saw the dog and purchased it for himself and didn't realize Anita wanted it. When Anita realized the dog was missing, she started to scream. but at the end the owner brought out another dog for her. and also someone took a picture of Anita and Eddie holding their toy dogs. It was such a cute little scenario. and the picture was cute also!! They looked really happy.

To those who hv seen the '90 concert, there's a part where she started singing on a bed & then danced romantically with a dancer while singing "yat mou king ching" (direct translation One Dance Discuss Love). She added a comedic touch even to such a beautifully romantic scene when she held out her hand to the dancer but he went passed her & she made the funny pissed-off look. She had such admirable sense of humor

Her sister, Ann ever teased Anita "You talk like cartoon" during her interview in 1989. I feel the same when I listened to both of them teasing each other and when joking, Anita's voice sounds like one of the cartoon character (can't remember, oh yah, the cute duck, always play opposite Mickey Mouse? Forgot its name!).

Re: Cute side of Anita Mui

Eddie Lau revealed on her first concert, Anita was too anxious about changing costume in short time, she called up "Help me to zip my back". On hearing her shout, all the costume crew (about 6 of them) who each have their own responsibility quickly rushed to her and forgot about their own tasks (like earrings, etc)and really in a mess. After this, Anita told Eddie she was very worried when times come to changing costume in such a short time. Eddie Lau then told his assistants to ignore her scream whatsoever whenever she is anxious and just concentrate on their own tasks. Let her do it herself.....

You are my shinning STAR

Yesterday night, when I look up above the sky, I saw so many Shinning STAR. I was wondering which STAR belong to Anita. Did you guys still remember Anita mentioned during her last concert when we lookup the sky and look at the star, she hope we will remember her (If I remember correctly). ... I want to tell her, everytime I look at the Star above the sky, I will remember her...

Anita's a Great Peronality

I seldom feel to much for others except for family and close friends. However, Anita's death has shaken me inside out and I am surprised that she has such an impact in me because I hardly know this person when she was alive.

She's lived life to the fullest even way before she knew she's cancer striken. What a wonderful way of demonstrating NEVER TAKE LIFE FOR GRANTED! It is amazing that this SMALL lady being so strong-willed, famous and rich remains self sacrificing, generously giving and humane. If the world has more people like her, it'll definitely be a better and warmer place to be. My life started awakening since her death and I have not stopped missing this person all the time. For if I could wap death with her, I am sure that she would have maximised time and resources around her and make more contributions than I ever could. If only that is possible, that would have added meaning to my own. All I can conclude is that Anita Mui is a Great Personality and she has done Great being a female! I'm sure she'll be very comforted if she knows her own true achievements and how many people out there still love and miss her always!

Me too, I love all her songs, how she dance and perform on stage, and her acting... since 1985 if I am not mistaken.. Currently, I can't find any artist to replace her. Everytime, when I watch the award giving ceremony, other shows like charity concert, l feel very sad because I will not be able to see her on stage again.

What do you like about her?

I luv her slinky built, her debonair deportment and some of her songs.

Most of all when i read about how she started performing at 4 years old is a heart wrenching feeling when i realise how vulnerable and fragile a 4 years old can be.

At the same time, i am very happy for her for all her great accomplishments and achievements that you don't see many artiste with such indomitable spirit.

Re: What do you like about her?

i like her "slinky" built too, esp those long slim fair arms (how i wish i could hv arms like tt) & the legs, needless to say (an asset she was v confident w, i think, bcoz it was most revealed & she joked in '90 concert "whtever could be revealed was revealed").
her features're not perfect but when placed together on her well-structured face, it oozes confidence & feminism (a special kind of beauty).
her voice's of course the epitome of confidence & feminism & the way she spoke, her humor, i can go on & on..

Re: What do you like about her?

For me, I really can't tell ! To be honest, I'm completely devoted to her only after her departure although I love her songs since she released her first album. She is definitely the first and most probably the last one I dare to confess I am a fan of an artist.

I love the picture of her in her last TVB appearance hosted by Dodo Cheng where she was standing up and clapping hands and she was touched by friends and fans who came to give her full supports that she was about to cry but she tried to suppress. That picture tells all.

Same as ML. I wasn't in HK when she was at the prime of her singing career. After her death, I can't help but to keep surfing the 'net' for her information. After her death, I started to collect her movies and concerts that are available. To me, to watch her performing on stage is so remarkable. And, for a long time, I love to see her movies, especially the ones that make you laugh. Her charity work and the things that she can achieve is so wonderful. In some ways, she is a 'Wonder Women'. We should be pride of her.

It is possible that she did, Leelee. Anita is not just a singer but the greatest performer and I dare say no other female singer could dance like her. Movies

My concerts postings r getting lukewarm responses. So I wanna talk 'bout movies now.

I rewatched Kawashima Yoshiko recently, mui's practically in every scene & her performance's so seasoned despite being only 27 at tt time. The vcd released by Speedy in M'sia has the ending song muted! Don't know why, v disappointed. Don't get this version. Then I found the song in Love Songs 2 album, wht a great song (grand yet full of emotions). Wonder why it was not as popular as other soundtracks.

I seeeeeeeeeeeee! I'm more familiar with this soundtrack song than her mid 90s hit songs. It is quite popular but to what extent, I couldn't tell. It may not have been award-winning song but who cares? Anita certainly has many many more good songs than anybody else could ever come close to her record.

If you were to talk about singing talents, my favorite artists are Anita Mui, Beyonds, George Lam, Wang Jieh.

If you were to talk about acting talents, my favorite artists are Anita Mui, Josephine Siu Fong Fong, Stephen Chow, Michelle Pfeiffer, Diane Keaton, Jack Nicholson, Jim Carrey.

If you were to talk about dancing talents, my favorite artists are Anita Mui, Aaron Kwok, Grasshoppers.

If you were to talk about righteous heroes, my favorite prominent figures are Anita Mui, Mother Theresa.

Re: Movies

Jareth, wht can i say, u've got taste!

Just re-watched Fight Back to School 3 (starring Steven Chow & Anita Mui), it's a black comedy directed by Wong Jing. I personally think tt it's one of his best directions bcoz he managed to balance the funny scenes w touching ones. mui's reenaction of her schooldays with chow is a delight to watch, only mui could pull off such a task (watch it if u hvn't, it'll make u go aaawwwwww & the ending will put a smile on ur face).

I feel differently watching the movies after some years. For instance, i didn't like Who's e Man Who's e Woman initially (mui's boldness was too much for me when i was younger) but watching it now brings a different feel (dunno how to describe, her acting here is natural & refreshing).
And there's a song tt she sang in the middle of the show, quite good but didn't make it to the charts either, i think.

Re: Movies, Fight Back to School 3, grabbing ears

Can someone explain this custom---when Chow and Ah Mui are dressed in their school uniforms and getting scolded by the Japanese housekeeper, they both squat down and grab their ears with both hands---I have seen this in other films, like in Drunken Master II, Jackie Chan does this when his father is yelling at him for losing the ginseng. What this all about?
